On the 20th or 21st of October I’ll be leaving Doncaster for the Peak District, for a 1 night camp near Bamford. I’ll be taking the camera equipment and hopefully getting some great sunset and sunrise shots while I’m there.

As much as I enjoy hiking in and around the Edale valley and Kinder Scout, I want to try somewhere different this time. I’ve been wanting to get some photos of Ladybower reservoir for ages so that helped me decide where I’ll be going this time. I’m setting off from Bamford railway station on the 20th of October and I’ll be making my way up to Bamford Edge.

Once there I’ll be spending some time taking photos of the views and once it starts getting dark I’ll be pitching up for a wild camp there. Then early in the morning I’ll be breaking camp and heading for Ladybower reservoir, taking more photos along the way.

I’ll probably end up having a wander around Ladybower before setting off for the railway station to come back home. Hopefully the weather will be kind to me so I can get some good photos. I’ll be using my Hexpeak 1 man tent and taking my winter sleeping gear and plenty of clothing layers in case it is cold.

I’ll be travelling light with the camera gear, or as light as I can be. I’ll have my DSLR and one lens, plus a couple of filters. Then for some video capture I’ll have my phone and the Smooth Q gimbal. There’s a bit of weight to that lot but the walk isn’t a hard one so I’ll be fine.

I’m really looking forward to it, even if I do catch some bad weather, I’ve been glued to my desk for the last couple of weeks as work has picked up for me. I’m desperate to stretch the legs!
